Trust resource
See what Kaiju checked before interpreting a missing value.
A missing technology match can mean the completed public check found no supported evidence, or it can mean the required page or signal was unavailable. Kaiju records what it was able to check so those cases remain separate.
- Page families checked
- Extractors recorded
- Required public surfaces named
- Unknown kept separate from not found
Example returned field
A concrete record, not an abstract claim
- Company website
- lumen.example
- Returned field
- sms_provider_visible
- Required checks
- Product page + resource extractor + eligible public resource
- Returned value
- not_found only after every required check completes
One missing field
Blank only means “not detected” after the right checks ran
Turn off one check and the answer becomes unknown. Turn on positive evidence and the answer becomes present.
Returned value
The eligible public surfaces were checked and no provider marker was found.

Why this matters
A blank field does not always mean no
The result is only meaningful when the required public checks actually ran.
- 1A completed check with no supported evidence may return not found.
- 2A blocked, missing, or failed page may return incomplete or unknown.
- 3An uncertain company or website match should remain unresolved.
What Kaiju records
Keep the completed-check context beside the value
Coverage is the technical name for the record of what Kaiju was able to inspect.
- 1Which page families and routes were requested
- 2Which extractors and detector inputs ran
- 3Which required public surfaces were eligible and reachable
- 4Which failures or blocks prevented a complete answer
How to use it
Handle not found and unknown differently
Different result states should lead to different follow-up actions.
- 1Use completed negative checks for supported filtering rules.
- 2Keep incomplete and unknown records out of irreversible automated actions.
- 3Recheck or manually inspect high-value companies where the public evidence was incomplete.
Continue the evaluation
Follow the next question behind the result.
Move from one trust concern to the methodology, product explanation, or limitation that helps your team decide whether the data is safe to use.
Test the method
Test the fields your team depends on.
Choose familiar positive, negative, and difficult companies. Compare the returned values with the record of what Kaiju was able to check.
